The world of John Wick took a massive turn when the climax of John Wick: Chapter 4 rolled out, showing Baba Yaga succumbing to his wounds after a dangerous final combat. We saw him seemingly die (did we?), and he was even buried. This led to the biggest shock of the year, as many believed it marked the last time we would see the iconic assassin. However, speculation soon emerged that this was not the end of the franchise, with reports suggesting that John Wick: Chapter 5 was in development. Although the studio has yet to officially confirm this, rumors circulated that Keanu Reeves would return as the legendary assassin and continue his story. Now, franchise director Chad Stahelski has shed light on the possibility of Chapter 5 and cautioned fans about raising their hopes too high. 

Is John Wick 5 Possible?

For those unaware, John Wick: Chapter 5 has been eagerly awaited by fans who can't get enough of the franchise. However, in a recent interview, Chad Stahelski indicated that while discussions are taking place and they have some interesting ideas, it’s uncertain whether they will proceed with the film. He also clarified that if a fifth chapter is made, it won’t directly follow the storyline of Chapter 4, as they believe nothing can top that installment.

“The honest truth is you don’t [top John Wick: Chapter 4],” Stahelski told The Hollywood Reporter. “You simply don’t. There’s no topping what we did. That’s the end. That’s the deal. That’s where we found closure. Look, sometimes we keep things in development. Sometimes, we use development as an exercise, but is there an opportunity to do John Wick 5? Of course there is, whether it’s for money or creativity. In the last three years, I’ve already had three or four versions of a John Wick 5. They were different ways to crack the story, but it’s almost a mental exercise for me.”

“It would not be part of the John Wick: Chapter 4 storyline. It would not be what you would expect. As far as Chapter 4, we’ve peaked. At least, I have,” Stahelski added. “That’s my apex. We ended it. It’s a complete story. I watch it now, and I feel very happy about it, but we wouldn’t try to outdo it. We wouldn’t try to add to that. It’d have to be a completely different storyline.”
