After being together for four years, Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas announced their divorce last month on Instagram. The two had finally reached a temporary agreement after a lengthy conflict over Willa and Delphine, their two daughters. Finally, they decided to divide custody of their two girls equally between the US and the UK. It was verified by Sophie and Joe in a joint statement.

Their statement read: “After a productive and successful mediation, we have agreed that the children will spend time equally in loving homes in both the U.S. and the UK. We look forward to being great co-parents.”

An interim consent order, which followed a mediation session from October 4–7, detailed the custody arrangement for the coming few weeks, according to court documents obtained by PEOPLE on Tuesday. The order is in effect until January 7, and by December 23 the parties must submit a statement outlining the status of their mediation.

Turner sued Jonas for unlawful detention, alleging that he was keeping their passports and prevented them from going back to England. This led to the mediation. The lawsuit demanded the immediate return of children wrongfully removed or retained, alleging that the "wrongful retention" began on September 20.

In a statement, Jonas denied Turner's claims and stated that he believed they had agreed upon a co-parenting plan. On September 5, he also filed for divorce in Miami, citing an "irretrievable breakdown" of the marriage. The couple's prenuptial agreement was mentioned in the divorce paperwork, and a parenting schedule that permits regular and ongoing contact with both parents was requested.

Meanwhile, in their joint statement announcing the split, they had written, “Statement from the two of us: After four wonderful years of marriage we have mutually decided to amicably end our marriage. There are many speculative narratives as to why but, truly this is a united decision and we sincerely hope that everyone can respect our wishes for privacy for us and our children.”
