Joan Evans, who is considered a Hollywood legend, took her last breath on October 21 due to old age. The news was confirmed by her son, John Weatherly to The Hollywood Reporter today.
Born in an artistic family, where her father, Dale Eunson and mother, Katherine Albert both were famous writers, Evans gave numerous remarkable movies like Roseanna McCoy, Our Very Own, Edge of Doom, Skirts Ahoy!, and more.
Joan's journey in Hollywood
Evans had appeared in 3 movies with Farley Granger, and the 3 movies are considered cult classics. She achieved the role in Roseanne McCoy after producer Samuel Goldwyn conducted a national talent search after the original star, Cathy O'Donnell, pulled out.
Did you know Evans was only 14 years old when she started work, but her parents added 2 more years to her age so she could claim to be 16 when Roseanne McCoy was released. Her film career was launched with her three pictures opposite Granger, including a supporting role in the drama Our Very Own and a featured part in the crime story Edge of Doom.
The actress later worked with Murphy in Column South, helmed by Fred De Cordova and No Name on a Bullet, helmed by Jack Arnold.
After leaving acting, what did Joan do?
Named Joan Katherine Eunson, she was born in 1934. Her mother was a Hollywood journalist and publicist for MGM. She left acting in the early ’60s to care for her family and later was an editor of Hollywood Studio Magazine and a teacher at the Carden Academy in Van Nuys.
Joan Evans is survived by son John and daughter Dale and a grandson, Chris.
