Mathew Thomas and Naslen’s Thaneer Mathan Dinangal worked magic in the box office because of how much it was relatable to the young audience. Their latest venture, Jo & Jo, is sure to strike a similar chord with Nikhila Vimal too in the mix and the film set against the backdrop of the pandemic.
The team recently released the trailer of the comedy-drama, which is set to hit theatres on May 13. The movie revolves around siblings Jomol and Jomon – essayed by Nikhila and Mathew, respectively – and the hilarious fights the duo get into after being stuck home due to the pandemic lockdown. Johny Antony plays their father and Sminu Sijo, who have no clue how to handle the situation.
Naslen Gafoor as Manoj Sundaran and Melvin as Eby Kuruvilla form Jomon’s friend circle, who seem to be the kind that adds fuel to the fire, as an unexpected incident rocks their lives in the village.
The movie is helmed by debutant Arun D Jose, who has also co-scripted it with Raveesh Nath. From the trailer, it’s packed with scenes that a lot of youngsters, who have spent almost two of their formative years cooped up in their homes with just their family for company and how tensions rise.
Arun in an earlier interview had told OTTplay, the movie is a coming-of-age story that belongs to the young adult genre. It is also a riveting family drama about incidents that happen between friends, siblings and parents, he said.
The film also has a stellar crew with cinematographer Ansar Shah, music director Govind Vasantha and editor Chaman Chakko. The first song from the film – Puzhayarikathu Dumm – is already a hit among the audience and the makers would be hoping that its success rubs off on the movie too when it hits the big screen in May.
