Jitendra Kumar is all set to bring his magic to the silver screen, this time quite literally, with the Netflix film Jaadugar. The film will see Kumar take on the role of a lovestruck magician named Meenu, who is willing to go to any lengths to get the girl of his dreams. Kumar recently opened up about the preparation he did to portray the role.

In conversation with Latestly, the actor revealed that he had trained under real magicians in preparation for the role. He said that in 2020, he had spent more than a month training to do magic tricks, which he called a ‘tedious journey’. His trainer had warned him that the actor would not ‘pass’ until he did a real show for audiences and a virtual show had been set up on Zoom.

Kumar spoke about how hard he worked to set up the lighting, music and props for the show, so that he could effectively trick people. In the end, all the work had paid off as the audiences were tricked, and Kumar gained a lot of confidence after the show as well. The actor said that afterwards, he had also participated in additional training sessions, a stage show and a street performance for a group of people as well. The experience had taught Kumar many valuable lessons in magic as well. “I realised when the audience is small - there are no lights and no music to aid you and you have to trick people, which is tougher as people can catch things" he said.

In addition to Kumar, the film also stars Arushi Sharma and Jaaved Jaaferi in prominent roles. Sameer Saxena has directed the film, which was produced under the banner of Posham PA Pictures.

Jaadugar will be available to stream on Netflix from July 15, 2022.
