While it’s just the second month of the year, Malayalam megastar Mammootty has already had two releases – Abraham Ozler and Yatra 2, both of which had him more in extended cameos than as the protagonist. His upcoming movie Bramayugam has him reportedly essaying the role of the antagonist in the movie and that makes director Deeno Dennis’ Bazooka a much-awaited fare for the fans.

While the shoot of the movie had concluded last year and the team had released several posters from the film, the makers are yet to announce a release date. Now, scriptwriter and director Jinu V Abraham, who is co-producing the movie, tells OTTplay about the release plans for the Mammootty-starrer.

Mammootty’s Bazooka to be a March 2024 release

The movie, which also has Babu Antony and Gautham Vasudev Menon in pivotal roles, is touted to be a game-thriller. “The post production work of the film is currently progressing. Bazooka will be a March end release,” Jinu tells us.

In an earlier interview with us, the film’s director Deeno had said that the movie, which has thriller and mystery elements, also has ‘mass’ sequences that would appeal to the fans of Mammootty. Sunny Wayne, Sharafudheen, Iswarya Menon, Divya Pillai and Shine Tom Chacko are also part of the film.

Meanwhile, Jinu, who has also written Tovino Thomas’ Anweshippin Kandethum , is currently working on the script of Prithviraj Sukumaran’s ‘mass’ entertainer Khalifa. The movie will mark the next directorial of Vysakh, who is working with Mammootty in Turbo.

On the Prithviraj film, Jinu, who had earlier teamed up with the Salaar actor for Adam Joan, Kaduva and Masters, tells us, “I finished writing the first half of the movie and narrated it to Prithviraj recently. He liked it. I am now working on the second half. It’s progressing slowly because of my production responsibilities too. Khalifa is a big film with a huge star cast, and we will be announcing an update soon.”

Prithviraj has wrapped his portions of Vipin Das’ Guruvayoor Ambalanadayil and is expected to head to the US for resume shooting for L2: Empuraan, which also has another schedule in the UK.
