Vasan Bala’s latest action thriller Jigra premiered in theatres across India today (October 11). Starring Alia Bhatt and Vedang Raina as the sibling duo, the movie has been grabbing headlines ever since it was announced and a gripping trailer dropped on September 26. Netizens are now sharing their first reviews and reactions after watching the film. Read on to know their verdict.

Netizens react to Alia Bhatt’s Jigra

Several X (formerly Twitter) users are sharing their initial response after watching Alia Bhatt’s highly anticipated action film Jigra. While many users expressed their delight over the film and the lead pair’s robust performance. Some users were disappointed and dubbed it a boring and overrated movie.

One of the highlights of the movie that managed to grab the attention of netizens is the emotional scene between Alia and Vedang as the brother-sister duo. Some users shared a few pictures or screen grabs from the emotionally charged scene and compared it with Alia’s other fine performances such as in Highway, and Dear Zindagi.

“It will go down in history books with other iconic emotional Alia Bhatt scenes (highway, dear zindagi, udta punjab, gangubai). One of her best ever,” an X user wrote.

Another user lauded the movie’s action sequences and visuals along with the background score. “The movie really turned out to be more than what i expected, especially the action sequences.. the visuals, the bgm everything was incredible.”

“A heartwarming tale of love sprinkled with action sequences. Few bumps in the story which could be avoided but the emotional quotient saves the day,” another social media user said.

However, some netizens also criticised the movie for lacking luster and even expressed regret over watching it. Calling it a waste of money, one user wrote, “Such a boring movie. Too overrated. Regret watching it. What a waste of money. No story line just alia trying to fit in an action film.”

Another user drew comparisons of the newly released Jigra with Alia Bhatt’s underperformed film Sadak 2. “So Basically #JIGRA is another Sadak 2 for Alia Bhatt.”

“Alia is good in jail break scene, otherwise too much acting. Vedang- wasted. Music and BGM big plus,” another user expressed dislike for Jigra.

Helmed by Vasan Bala, Jigra is an action-packed film that follows a protective sister (played by Alia) who goes against the odds to save her younger brother (played by Vedang Raina) after he is falsely accused of a crime and is sentenced to death. How she will be able to save her brother forms the main crux of this actioner.
