Jigarthanda DoubleX: Santhosh Narayanan slams journo who commented on Nimisha Sajayan’s looks, says 'nothing has changed since...'

Karthik Subbaraj recently responded strongly to a journalist's remarks about Nimisha Sajayan's appearance in Jigarthanda DoubleX. The incident took place at the film's success meet in Chennai, at which the film's lead actors, Raghava Lawrence and SJ Suryah, were also present. During the event, a reporter asked Karthik how managed to bring out the best in Nimisha alongside Raghava Lawrence. He also praised her performance in her debut Tamil film, Chithha, but said he considering her to be "not so beautiful". 

In his reply, Karthik challenged the journalist's perception, questioning why he thought Nimisha was not beautiful. He said, “Maybe it's your mindset. You can't say someone is not beautiful. That's wrong.” This sharp and direct response from Karthik has earned him appreciation and the support of many. The latest to weigh in on the issue is Tamil music composer Santhosh Narayanan.

Jigarthanda DoubleX's music composer Santhosh Narayanan, who was also present at the event, has commented on the issue. Santhosh took his X handle and wrote, “I was there. It was not just about the ridiculous ‘beauty’ question for the reporter. There was a conscious effort from the guy to ask something controversial and he was so proud after asking this. Nothing has changed since the appalling ‘Jigarthanda’ - ‘Figuredhanda’ question 9 years ago” (sic).

Jigarthanda DoubleX gets thumbs up from viewers

Jigarthanda DoubleX was released on November 10 to coincide with Diwali. Expectations were high from Karthik's film that has Raghava Lawrence and SJ Suryah in pivotal roles, and they seem to have been met. The combination of a distinctive storyline and technical excellence has garnered praise from both audiences and critics.

Jigarthanda DoubleX beats Karthi’s Japan at the box office 

Jigarthanda DoubleX opened to positive reviews and earned Rs 2.96 crore on the opening day. As of Day 8, the film has raked in close to Rs 47 crore and is far ahead of Karthi’s heist comedy, Japan, which released on the same day. Japan has reportedly grossed only Rs 28 crore by Day 8.
