Jigarthanda Double X: Theatrical rights of Karthik Subbaraj's film acquired by THIS leading production house

As Jigarthanda Double X gears up to hit screens for Diwali, the team has dropped the latest update on the film. We hear that Jigarthanda Double X, which stars SJ Suryah and Raghava Lawrence in the lead, will be distributed through Red Giant Movies.

Karthik Subbaraj drops the announcement
The film's director Karthik Subbaraj dropped the announcement on his social media handle. He wrote, "Extremely Elated to announce that #JigarthandaDoubleX will have a GRAND RELEASE in Tamil Nadu through @RedGiantMovies_. Blasting worldwide in theatres, this Diwali 2023 (sic)."

In the meantime, the overseas rights of the film have been bagged by Ahimsa Entertainment. The distribution house shared, "Two months, two blockbusters loading! #AhimsaEntertainment is proud to be the face of the ENTIRE OVERSEAS release for the Diwali festive entertainer, #JigarthandaDoubleX (sic)."

First single out
The team recently dropped the first single titled Maamadura, composed by Santhosh Narayanan. It is to be noted that the duo are teaming up after more than a decade. The makers have also been billing Jigarthanda as a Pandyaa Western story.

The intriguing teaser
Going by the intriguing teaser, it looks like SJ Suryah plays a filmmaker and Raghava Lawrence, a gangster who turns actor in the action-packed adventure. Interestingly, the original film, Jigarthanda, too, had a similar plot. However, it is said that the film is not a sequel to the original, which hit screens in 2014. Jigarthanda starred Siddharth and Bobby Simha in the lead, and the latter even went on to win a National Award for his role.

Star cast and crew
The period action drama features Nimisha Sajayan, Shine Tom Chacko, Ilavarasu, Sathyan, Bava Chelladurai and Sathyan as part of the star cast. Music for the film is by Santhosh Narayanan, cinematography by Tirru and editing by Shafique Mohamed Ali. Jigarthanda Double X is bankrolled by Stone Bench Films.
