It's a wrap for the shoot of Jigarthanda Double X. The film's director Karthik Subbaraj made the announcement with a short video. In the video, the team is seen celebrating the wrap-up along with a cake-cutting ceremony. Taking to his social media handle, Karthik Subbaraj wrote, "It's a WRAP for #JigarthandaDoubleX - see you in theatres this Diwali! #J2XShootWraps #DoubleXDiwali (sic)."

Along with the video, Karthik Subbaraj confirmed the film's release for Deepavali. It was not long ago that the makers announced that the film will hit screens for the festival. They had then dropped a short video of Raghava Lawrence perched on a chair in front of a theatre and setting things on fire to make the announcement.

Going by yet another promo video, the film is set in the '60s or '70s and it looks like SJ Suryah and Raghava Lawrence's characters are at loggerheads with each other. While SJ Suryah seems like a shifty gangster, Raghava Lawrence plays a ruffian. Both seem to have enough heft on their own, going by their promo. Interestingly, this is the first time that SJ Suryah and Lawrence Raghavendra are coming together for a film.

While the music is by Santhosh Narayanan, cinematography is by S Thirunavukkarasu. Jigarthanda Double X is bankrolled by Kaarthekeyen Santhanam & Kathiresan, and presented by Karthik Subbaraj's Stone Bench Films.

Jigarthanda Double X is a sequel to Jigarthanda (2014), which starred Siddharth, Bobby Simha, Lakshmi Menon, Karunakaran and Guru Somasundaram. The plot revolves around a short filmmaker who aspires to make a feature film on Assault Sethu, a gangster in Madurai.

While Bobby Simha won the National Award for the Best Supporting Actor, Vivek Harshan bagged the award for the Best Editing. Jigarthanda Double X is one of the most awaited projects of the year. It looks like it's going to be a dhamaka of Deepavali.
