Director Karthik Subbaraj's much-awaited film, Jigarthanda Double X, is all set to drop in theatres worldwide on the occasion of Diwali. The latest we hear is that Ahimsa Entertainment, which is distributing Vijay's Leo in the UK market, has bagged the entire overseas rights of the film.
Ahimsa Entertainment drops a quirky video for the announcement
The video shows Raghava Lawrence looking like a cowboy and holding a gun, while SJ Suryah is seen canning the same on his camera. They also show the camera spanning over the many landmarks across the country, indicating that the film will be distributed from Australia to America.
Their post read, " Two months, two blockbusters loading! #AhimsaEntertainment is proud to be the face of the ENTIRE OVERSEAS release for the Diwali festive entertainer, #JigarthandaDoubleX (sic)." Karthik Subbaraj replied to the post saying that he loved the announcement video.
First single out
The first single from the film was recently dropped by the team and was well received. The single, titled Maamadura, was released by GV Prakash Kumar, while the Telugu version of the song, Kora Meesam, was launched by Devi Sri Prasad.
Billed as a Pandyaa Western story
Karthik Subbaraj and the rest of the team have been referring to the project as A Pandyaa Western story. The film is said to be an action drama that revolves around a filmmaker and a gangster. Interestingly, the director's Jigarthanda (2014), which starred Siddharth and Bobby Simha in the lead, was also a story about a filmmaker and a gangster.
Music for the film is by Santhosh Narayanan. While the cinematography is by S Thirunavukkarasu, editing is by Shafique Mohamed Ali. Action choreography is by Dhilip Subbarayan. Kaarthekeyen Santhanam and Kathiresan are bankrolling the movie
Jigarthanda Double X is Lawrence's third release this year after Rudhran and Chandramukhi 2.
