Jersey, the 2019 release, featuring Nani, Shraddha Srinath, Satya Raj in key roles and directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri, was one of the best sports dramas ever made in Telugu cinema. The film, produced by S Naga Vamsi under Sithara Entertainments centered around an arrogant cricketer Arjun, a late bloomer whose career blossoms at the age of 36 and portrayed his various professional, personal struggles enroute to his feat. Fittingly, Jersey won it big at the 67th National Film Awards under the Best Telugu film and Best Editing categories.
Team Jersey flew to Delhi to receive their awards at the presentation ceremony today. It was a moment of pride, honour and excitement for Telugu cinema lovers as editor Navin Nooli, filmmaker Gowtam Tinnanuri, producer S Naga Vamsi were presented their trophies by Venkaiah Naidu, the Vice President of India. The makers of Jersey, expressing their happiness, shared a picture of the same via their social media handle, captioning it, '#JERSEY. Our producer @vamsi84, director @gowtam19 & editor @NavinNooli awarded at the 67th #NationalFilmAwards ⭐ Best Telugu Film ⭐ Best Editing."
Master Ronit Kamra, Harish Kalyan, Vishwant Duddumpudi, Sanusha, Praveen, Sampath Raj and Jaya Prakash essayed supporting roles in the film that impressed critics and masses alike. Sanu Varghese was the cinematographer of Jersey while it had an exceptional music score by Anirudh Ravichander. The film is now being remade in Hindi, starring Shahid Kapoor, Mrunal Thakur and Pankaj Kapur in lead roles, also directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri. The Hindi version of Jersey is all set to hit theatres on December 31. Gowtam Tinnanuri is also collaborating with actor Ram Charan for a film to be produced by UV Creations.
