Director Jeo Baby is gearing up for his biggest project in his career. Though he has teamed up with actors such as Tovino Thomas, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Joju George and Nimisha Sajayan, his next will have him working with Mollywood superstar Mammootty.

While there were rumours that Jeo was set to collaborate with Mammootty and Jyotika for a movie, the filmmaker recently confirmed that the project with the megastar is indeed on.

In an interview with Asiaville, the filmmaker, who had helmed the acclaimed The Great Indian Kitchen, said that the movie will be scripted by two of his friends. “I am excited and happy that I am getting to do a movie with Mammootty. I am not tense. In fact, it's more of a responsibility," he said.

The director explained that he believed Mammootty was the right fit for the role when he read the script and that's how he decided to approach the megastar. Jeo also remarked that he knows that Mammootty will do complete justice and more to the role that is given to him. The team is currently reworking certain portions of the script based on Mammootty's suggestions, he added.

Meanwhile, Jeo’s latest release Sree Dhanya Catering Service had hit theatres on August 26. The comedy, which has Sumesh Moor, Prashanth Murali, Jeo, Beena and Anna Fathima in pivotal roles, revolves around a group of men cooking biriyani. The movie had a limited theatrical release, owing to several other films including Prithviraj Sukumaran’s Theerppu and Joju George’s Peace hitting theatres along with it.

In a recent interview with OTTplay, the filmmaker had said that he wasn’t worried about the lack of theatres. “I believe right now, if people like the content, then a lot of the audience will watch it. People are interested in such movies now,” said the director, whose previous two movies were direct-to-OTT releases.
