When Jensen Ackles was spotted on the sets of Amazon Prime Video’s The Boys, fans were ecstatic. The actor will be playing the role of Soldier Boy in the third instalment of this graphic take on a classic superhero plot. The third season is currently in production and Ackles, series creator Eric Kripke and the official new Vought International Twitter account have been leaving a trail of clues building up to the full reveal of Soldier Boy for a week now. Ackles has made fans happy by finally sharing a first look at Soldier Boy’s shield and revealing that the full character reveal will be on June 8.
Simply put, The Boys is what happens when superheroes who are worshipped choose to use their powers for evil in a state-supported scheme. The series features lots of bloodshed, plenty of plot twists and a fair share of humour. The Boys, our favourite heroes, decide to expose the truth of the evil supergroup called The Seven. Based on the comic books of the same name by DC Comics, The Boys stars Karl Urban, Jack Quaid, Laz Alonso, Tomer Capon and Karen Fukuhara in lead roles. In season 3, this cast will be joined by Supernatural alum Jensen Ackles as Soldier Boy.
The first time audiences were introduced to Soldier Boy was in season 2 when his statue was shown during Stormfront and Homelander’s pro-war rally. In the original comics, this character is supposed to be the first superhero ever. His origin story follows his time as an assassin of German soldiers. Ackles, giving fans a glimpse into the role, shared a picture of the shield of the character on Twitter.
“Every dent, every scratch, every mark tells a story. A story that ends with me, winning. Full character reveal tomorrow!!! (sic)” read the actor’s caption.
The first two seasons of The Boys are streaming on Amazon Prime Video. The third season is expected to premiere in 2022.
