For nearly a year, No Hard Feelings has been streaming on Netflix. Now, precisely one year later, the sex comedy is departing from the OTT giant and transitioning to a new streaming platform. Yes, No Hard Feelings will begin streaming on SonyLIV (OTTplay Premium) on September 23, 2024. The movie stars Jennifer Lawrence as a woman who rich parents hire to woo their sexually and romantically awkward son, Percy (Andrew Barth Feldman).

Plot overview of No Hard Feelings

The edgy comedy No Hard Feelings, which Jennifer Lawrence both produces and stars in, is sure to make you chuckle. Following an intriguing job listing, Maddie (Lawrence) believes she has found a solution to her financial problems: affluent helicopter parents seeking a companion to "date" their shy 19-year-old son, Percy, and help him overcome his shyness before he leaves for college. However, dealing with awkward Percy is proving to be more difficult than she had anticipated, and the clock is ticking. To save everything, she has just one summer to transform him into a man.

Gene Stupnitsky co-wrote No Hard Feelings, while John Phillips directed it. Laura Benanti, Natalie Morales, and Matthew Broderick star alongside Lawrence.

Box office and critical reception

The critically acclaimed and commercially successful No Hard Feelings opened in theatres on June 23, 2023, and it made more than $87 million worldwide on a budget of under $45 million. The 81st Golden Globes nominated Lawrence for Best Actress—Comedy or Musical, and she went on to win the People's Choice Award for Comedy Movie Star at the 49th annual ceremony. At the 29th Critics' Choice Awards, the film was up for Best Comedy.

Provissiero and Odenkirk, the producers, reportedly penned the scenario while dining with Lawrence, the actor they had in mind for the role, and based the plot on a real Craigslist ad they forwarded to Stupnitsky.

Vulture awarded No Hard Feelings the "Best Stunt in a Non-Action Film" award in 2024, the film's second year of stunt awards, for the scene where Lawrence's character is naked on the beach. Lawrence's character approaches this sequence with the unabashed confidence of a no-longer-20-something hellion and executes it bluntly, which is why her character defeats three teenagers.

Streaming success on Netflix

The film was a financial success upon its debut on Netflix. It premiered at #1 on the list of most streamed titles of the first week, with 1 billion minutes viewed, according to Nielsen. According to reports, No Hard Feelings had a diverse audience ranging from 18 to 64 years old, with 30% of viewers being Hispanic or African American, and it was the only title to top the Nielsen rankings that week with over 1 billion minutes streamed.
