The incredibly busy Wednesday Addams (Jenna Ortega) isn't going to let you make your eyes bleed just yet. She spends far too much time in cemeteries, and Season 2's newly released photo confirms that. In Wednesday's customarily twisted fashion, the eerie image doubles as an announcement that production on the forthcoming season has concluded in Ireland and will launch in 2025.
According to showrunners and executive producers Al Gough and Miles Millar, Wednesday faces more complicated and darker challenges this season as she deals with friends, family, new secrets, and old enemies, leading her into another year at Nevermore.
Even though the spine-tingling picture solely features Nevermore Academy's No. 1 teen investigator, we know that Wednesday will feature familiar faces—and thrilling new characters. A recent Geeked Week 2024 featurette had all members of the cast, including director and executive producer Tim Burton, as well as Joy Sunday (Bianca Barclay), Luis Guzmán (Gomez Addams), Catherine Zeta-Jones (Morticia Addams), and Emma Myers (Enid Sinclair).
Actors and crew occupy the ever-busy Nevermore Academy set as the clip opens with Zeta-Jones promising that this season will be bigger and more twisted than one could ever imagine.
Similar to what Gough and Millar said, they are thrilled to bring an eclectic roster of extraordinary new characters and look forward to exploring more Addams Family lore.
In 2025, Wednesday Season 2 will debut, so fans of Nevermore Academy may get ready for their comeback. As Wednesday Addams continues her studies at Nevermore Academy, the series will continue following her paranormal adventures. Showrunners Gough and Millar tease that Season 2 will have a delightfully dark, kooky, and mysterious vibe. Fans would kill them on Wednesday if they revealed the reason. Therefore, they are keeping quiet.
An announcement video for Wednesday Season 2 from January 2023 promised more torture to come. Obviously, super-sleuth Wednesday isn't going to accept anything less.
Ortega informed Tudum in February 2023 that Wednesday is unwavering in her beliefs and does not seek approval from others. The actor genuinely admires this trait, particularly from someone who excels at winning over others.
Not only has Ortega grown to appreciate Wednesday's portrayal of the sole daughter of the Addams family, but so has everyone else. In July 2023, the show received 12 Primetime Emmy nominations.
Ortega is going to produce and star in Wednesday Season 2 as an outcast who doubles as a detective and mystery writer. Along with Ortega, returning cast members include Sunday (Bianca Barclay), Moosa Mostafa (Eugene), Georgie Farmer (Ajax), Myers (Enid Sinclair), and Dorobantu.
Cast members Luyanda Unati Lewis-Nyawo (Deputy Ritchie Santiago), Isaac Ordonez (Pugsley Addams), Guzmán (Gomez Addams), and Zeta-Jones (Morticia Addams) have all become regulars on the show. Also making a triumphant return as special guests are Jamie McShane (Sheriff Donovan Galpin) and Fred Armisen (Uncle Fester).
Season 2 of Wednesday introduces many new regulars to the cast, including Noah Taylor, Evie Templeton, Steve Buscemi, and Billie Piper.
New guest stars like Joanna Lumley, Joonas Suotamo, Haley Joel Osment, Heather Matarazzo, Frances O'Connor, Thandiwe Newton, and Christopher Lloyd will be making appearances.
In May 2024, Millar and Gough informed Tudum that their goal was to discover fresh talent and recruit esteemed actors to join Ortega and the Nevermore crew. The talented team they assembled excites them, and they succeeded in their mission.
Here We Woe Again is the title of the second season premiere of Wednesday. Gough and Millar wrote the series, which Tim Burton directed. Production on the mystery show has concluded in picturesque Ireland. The set is "truly magical," according to Gough and Millar.
It is said to enhance Wednesday's world with a feeling of enduring beauty, awe, and magnificent spectacle. The fact that Bram Stoker, author of Dracula, was born and raised in Dublin is no accident; the tales of Irish folklore were a major influence on his work.
Season 2 of Wednesday will see Burton returning to his roles as director and executive producer, creating the show's horrifying universe. Paco Cabezas and Angela Robinson are the directing duo attached. Gough and Millar, who are also the showrunners and creators, executive produce Wednesday alongside Steve Stark, Andrew Mittman, Tommy Harper, Karen Richards, Jonathan Glickman, Gail Berman, and Meredith Averill.
