Jayaram’s Abraham Ozler sets up festive box office clash with Dhanush’s Captain Miller

When veteran Malayalam actor Jayaram was promoting his debut Kannada film Ghost, he also made it a point to speak about one of his upcoming projects. Called Abraham Ozler, the film directed by Midhun Manuel Thomas is, according to Jayaram, one of the best scripts the actor has got in Malayalam cinema in a while. In fact, Jayaram said that if one of his films were to be remade in Hindi, he’d want it to be Ozler and that he would want to reprise his role as well. At the time, Ozler meant to be a Christmas release, but with the year-end looking quite jam-packed at the box office with films like Salaar, Dunki, Aquaman-2 and the Mohanlal-starrer Neru, Jayaram’s movie was pushed ahead to the new year. While Midhun has spoken about the new release date at a few public events, the team officially announced the same with a new poster recently. Turns out, Ozler is gunning for Sankranti. The film will be in theatres on January 11, 2024.

Ozler is, according to the poster, getting a world-wide release, which should put it in direct competition with Dhanush’s Captain Miller, in Kerala and Tamil Nadu, at the very least. Captain Miller, which also stars Jayaram’s Ghost co-star Shivarajkumar, was initially meant to be a December 15 release, but was then pushed ahead. The medical thriller Abraham Ozler also has Arjun Ashokan, Anaswara Rajan, Saiju Kurup, Arya Salim and Senthil Krishna, with Mammootty in a pivotal cameo. The core technical team includes Midhun Mukundan as music director, Saiju Sreedharan as editor, and Theni Easwar as cinematographer.
