Tamil star Jayam Ravi's upcoming movie, Siren, has been the subject of various speculations for a long time now. Particularly, the film's release faced a lot of uncertainty for reasons known best to the producers. However, the film is set to finally hit the screens this week.
Speculations are now rife about the producers struggling to secure a streaming partner before its theatrical release. However, it seems these discussions are baseless, as the producers seem to have found more than one OTT platform interested in partnering with them.
According to industry sources, Disney+Hotstar has acquired the film's streaming rights. An official announcement on the same is expected soon.
Earlier, Siren had partnered with ZEE5 . There were also reports about the possibility of the film skipping the theatrical window and debuting directly on streaming platforms.
It wouldn't be wrong to say that Siren went through a roller coaster ride — from skipping its December release to speculations about a direct-to-stream release to ultimately sticking to the box office window.
Jayam Ravi seems quite confident about the ability of Siren to connect with a wider audience. While talking about the movie, he noted that he believed this film would surely appeal to family audiences.
Even before the release, Jayam Ravi predicted a huge commercial success for Siren. He claimed that this movie marks his return to the family drama genre after a long hiatus.
In Siren, Jayam Ravi plays the role of a convicted felon. Judging from the trailer, the hero gets falsely implicated in a murder case and is sentenced to jail to serve a life term. However, when he gets out on parole, the hero sets out to prove his innocence to society, especially his estranged daughter.
Keerthy Suresh seems to play the daughter of Jayam Ravi in the movie. Jayam Ravi will be seen in two different looks as the movie plays out in two different timelines.
Written and directed by Anthony Bhagyaraj, the movie also stars Anupama Parameswaran, Samuthirakani, Yogi Babu, and Tulasi, among others.
