It came to light not very long ago that the life of the current chief minister of Karnataka, Siddaramaiah, would soon be brought on screen. Titled Leader Ramaiah, the film is to trace the life of the charismatic Congress leader who, having begun his professional life as a lawyer, would go on to be elected as the chief minister of Karnataka on two separate occasions.
Reportedly, the biopic, which comes with the tagline 'A King Raised By The People', will be made in two parts with Sathyaratnam directing it. The film will be made and released in five different languages including Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Hindi.
Vijay Sethupathi expected to come on board
Another highlight of Leader Ramaiah is the involvement of popular Tamil actor, Vijay Sethupathi, who has been reportedly approached for a key role. Previously, it was reported that the Jawan actor would make a cameo appearance in Part 1 and would then play a full-fledged part in the second part, which is likely to document the adult life of Siddaramaiah. While a few reckoned that Vijay Sethupathi would essay the titular role, there was no clarity as to the specific character that he has been approached for.
However, the latest reports inform that the actor has given a 'green signal' to the team and is likely to join the production once his scheduling is taken care of. The same reports also claim that the makers wish to see Vijay Sethupathi playing Siddaramaiah in the biopic, but one awaits a formal word on the same. Nevertheless, it would be quite interesting to see an actor of his stature taking on such an unconventional role.
A Commercial Venture
Speaking to South First, director Sathyaratnam has revealed that Leader Ramaiah will be a bona fide commercial film that will trace the many vibrant moments of the politician's life in an entertaining manner. Turns out there would be a small 'love track' in the film, which dates back to his days as a law student, along with three songs which will be composed by Shashank Sheshagiri.
Part One of Leader Ramaiah will bring to life Siddaramaiah's childhood, his time as a college student, as a lawyer and also his early foray into politics including several crucial events of this phase. Part Two, potentially, will capture his rise into prominence at the national level.
