Jawan star Priyamani joins Mohanlal's Neru, shares photo from sets

Actor Priyamani has joined the sets of her next movie titled Neru. She shared a picture from the sets expressing her happiness to share screen space with Malayalam superstar Mohanlal. "Joined the sets of #neru today!!! With the one and only @mohanlal sir and @jeethu4ever sir !!!," she captioned a picture of herself holding a clapboard.

Neru went on the last month coinciding with the Malayalam New Year. While we have little information about the project at the time, Neru is said to be a courtroom drama. Jeethu Joseph, who is known for his crime thrillers like Drishyam, is directing the drama. He has co-written the screenplay with actor-writer Santhi Mayadevi.

Neru marks Jeethu Joseph's fifth collaboration with Mohanlal. The actor-director duo has previously delivered hits like Drishyam 1 and 2. However, their previous collaboration 12th Man, which was an Agatha Christie-like locked-room mystery was a critical disaster.

Neru, however, is expected to make up for 12th Man, which failed to live up to the expectations of the fans. The movie is bankrolled by Antony Perumbavoor.

The title teaser that was released showed a legal book in braille format, suggesting a visually impaired protagonist.

Ram is in production limbo

In the meantime, the production of Ram, which is a big-budget action directed by Jeethu Joseph, is yet to resume. The shooting of the movie, headlined by Mohanlal, was suspended owing to the pandemic. As the world had come to a standstill and international travel was heavily restricted a few years ago, the filmmakers were unable to finish the last leg of the shooting.

Jeethu Joseph revealed that there are about 45 days of shoot remaining for Ram. The movie also stars Trisha in the lead role.

Jawan, a blockbuster hit

Priyamani played a pivotal role in Jawan, starring Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan in the lead role. Written and directed by Atlee, the movie has already become one of the biggest commercial hits of 2023, raking in over Rs 300 crore in India alone since its release on September 7.
