Salim Khan and Javed Akhtar penned 24 films, with an impressive 22 achieving blockbuster status. They split up in 1982. However, they reunited for the doc-series Angry Young Men: The Salim-Javed Story which explores the legendary partnership of the writer duo. In a new interview, Salim Khan hinted at the possibility of a comeback with Javed Akhtar. 

Is Salim Khan and Javed Akhtar making a comeback?

In an interview with NDTV, Salim Khan said that if Salim-Javed were to come back now, it would still be valuable.

When asked if they are planning on writing another film together, Salim Khan replied, "Banane ka iraada hai. [We have plans to make it." The two are already working on a script together, he revealed. "Comeback, coming soon," he added.

Why did Salim Khan and Javed Akhtar part ways?

The iconic writer duo's sudden split came as a surprise not only for the entertainment industry but also for fans who were expecting more of this amazing pair. Recently, it was revealed that Javed Akhtar called for the split by citing their changing dynamics and growth.

Javed Akhtar took the responsibility for initiating the breakup of the Salim-Javed jodi. In the documentary, he shared how the two started their careers together and spent a large part of the day in each other's company. However, things take a turn when they start meeting new people and exploring their circles, causing their meetings to stop.

“When you start working together, you are new in the business, you don’t know many people. Perhaps, out of 24 hours, we were together for 18 hours. Then, went on to make new friends, and he (Salim Khan) also made new friends. Gradually, our circles started separating. Our evening meetings stopped,” Javed Akhtar revealed in the documentary, Angry Young Men. 

Meanwhile, Salim Khan said that even when people asked them why or how it (split) happened, the writer duo said they didn’t know. "We don’t like to talk about it. We only speak about the good times we had,” Salim Khan said while reflecting on the end of their era together.

Meanwhile, Angry Young Men is currently streaming on Prime Video. The documentary received a lot of love from not only fans but also several celebrities.
