Japan: Karthi plays a thief with swag, teaser clocks 1 million views

The much-awaited Japan teaser finally dropped last evening on social media. Karthi shared the same on his social media handle and said that it was one of the most enjoyable characters he has played in recent times. The film is directed by Raju Murugan, marking the duo's maiden collaboration.

All about Japan
Going by the teaser, Karthi plays a thief who knows how to live it up. He has been responsible for more than 182 thefts and four states have been on the lookout for him, even as he has a gala time with gold, women and partying. He even has golden teeth and wears golden-hued suits. As the pressure mounts on the cops, they intensify their search, but only in vain. Will the police be able to trace Japan and nab him? Or will he continue to give them a run for their money?

The plot is said to be based on the life of Tiruvarur Murugan, who was responsible for many thefts across Tamil Nadu and Kerala. After the police nabbed him, he went on to help them with solving the cases that involved him. However, he died soon after due to ill health.

Japan teaser to be screened with Leo
The teaser is all set to be screened along with Vijay's Leo, which dropped across cinemas worldwide. Along with Japan, the teaser of Dhanush's Captain Miller will also be screened in theatres overseas.

Japan cast and crew
The star cast includes Karthi, Anu Emmanuel, Sunil, Vijay Milton and Bava Chelladurai to name a few. Music for the film is by GV Prakash Kumar. While the cinematography is by S Ravi Varman, editing is by Philomin Raj. Japan is bankrolled by SR Prabhu's Dream Warrior Productions. It was only recently that SR Prabhu had stated that the teaser of Japan was dope and that he couldn't wait to share it with everyone.
