Vijay Deverakonda and Puri Jagannadh, the formidable duo behind Liger, announced a while back that they will join hands yet again for another project titled, Jana Gana Mana or JGM. It was recently reported that Pooja Hegde will essay the role of the female lead in the movie, opposite Deverakonda.
Earlier, there were reports that Janhvi Kapoor was in talks to essay the role of the film’s female lead. And now, it seems that Hegde has replaced Kapoor for the role, as per speculations. If confirmed, JGM will mark Deverakonda and Hegde’s first on-screen collaboration together. The makers are yet to make an official announcement regarding the same.
Although reports about the film have been in circulation long before, JGM was officially announced by Jagannadh and Deverakonda at an event in Mumbai in March. The upcoming film will be written and directed by Jagannadh and will be produced under the director’s production banner Puri Connects, along with Srikara Studio Production. The Liger actor had opened up about the film, calling it one of the most challenging scripts he ever received in which he will play a ‘refreshing character’ that he has never done before.
Jana Gana Mana is slated for release on August 3, 2023. The pan-India film will be released in the languages of Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam.
Meanwhile, Hegde’s releases of this year include Prabhas’ Radhe Shyam, Ram Charan-Chiranjeevi starrer Acharya and Vijay’s Beast. Radhe Shyam and Beast are available to stream on Amazon Prime Video and Netflix respectively, while Acharya will start streaming on Prime Video from May 20. Hegde’s upcoming films include Ranveer Singh starrer Cirkus and Salman Khan’s Kabhie Eid Kabhi Diwali.
