With the conclusion of the SAG-AFTRA strikes in Hollywood, the industry is now free to move rapidly and complete/begin work on the projects that came to a standstill. James Gunn and Peter Safran’s DCU faced one of the biggest roadblocks due to the strikes, as the studio had just begun shaping the new era. Turns out, now that we are in the post-strikes world, there are finally updates on the filming of Superman: Legacy and The Brave And The Bold.
James and Peter, for the unversed, took the boss chairs at the DC wing of Warne Bros and revamped it as DCU, axing almost the entire past timeline. They will now shape the wing in chapters with Chapter One: Gods & Monsters already announced. Gunn chose to work on Superman: Legacy as his first live-action film in the new dawn of the studio. But things came to a standstill.
We already know how James Gunn was working round the clock to finish the pre-production while the actors were on strike. Turns out he is even prepared to go on sets in early 2024. The latest reports have revealed the details and also share the updates on The Brave And The Bold.
As per ComicBook, James Gunn will take the director’s chair and begin the filming of Superman: Legacy in March 2024 , with David Corenswet playing Clark Kent and Rachel Brosnahan playing Lois Lane. As for The Brave And The Bold, the project is being shaped by The Flash director Andy Muschietti and is still in the very early stages of development. The filmmaker is busy with his IT prequel series Welcome To Derry at the moment.
Talking about Superman: Legacy, the movie will have Clark Kent trying to reconcile his Kryptonian heritage with his human world. As for The Brave And The Bold, it will be centered around Bruce Wayne, aka Batman, Damian Wayne, and Robin. The former is set for a July 11, 2025 release. Stay tuned to OTTplay for more.
