Can’t believe it was just about last year when the Hollywood film Avatar: The Way of Water released in theatres and minted over Rs 200 crores at the box office globally. The film featured actors Zoe Saldana, Sam Worthington, Sigourney Weaver, and Stephen Lang among others in crucial roles.
And now, as per the latest update, the film has been released for viewers in India and can be viewed on Disney Plus Hotstar anytime from today onwards.
With a splendid cast, the makers of the film left no stone unturned to weave the life of fictional magical beings into a story. Speaking in detail, director of the film James Cameron narrated how he filmed the movie underwater and what challenges he faced.
“The key was to actually shoot underwater and at the surface of the water so people were swimming properly, getting out of the water properly, diving in properly. It looks real because the motion was real. And the emotion was real,” the filmmaker said in a statement recorded by The Indian Express.
The statement highlighted that a massive tank was constructed at Manhattan Beach Studios, home to Cameron and Landau’s production company, Lightstorm. “We could create waves and have people trying to get out of the water while they’re getting hit by waves. We could create wave interaction with the creatures and people surfacing, getting hit by a wave and trying to say their lines and trying to breathe at the same time,” Cameron said.
The filmmaker had earlier told news portal, Entertainment Weekly, that the development of Avatar series began in 1994, when he wrote an 80-page treatment for the film.
For those unaware of the film, we have got you covered. The story is set in the year 2154 – a time when the natural resources of the Earth depleted more than the expected rate. To explore the habitat of that place are magical beings Jake and Ney'tiri, who are on a mission from planet Earth. However, as time progresses, an ancient threat resurfaces, following which Jake must fight a difficult war against the humans. Wil he be successful? Watch out this series today.
