Leading regional OTT platform aha has slowly and steadily cemented its authority in the digital space over three years. After making a mark in the Telugu OTT arena, the Allu Aravind-founded platform forayed into the Tamil market and cast a spell on viewers. One of aha’s more popular shows in Tamil is Pettaikaali, presented by Viduthalai Part 1 maker Vetri Maaran.

Pettaikaali was among the rare shows in the OTT space that shed new light on the controversial regional sport Jallikattu in Tamil Nadu. Now, the show is reaching out to Telugu audiences with a new title - Jallikattu, which will also premiere on aha on April 26. Written and directed by La.Rajkumar, the show is headlined by Kishore, Kalaiarasan, Antony, Sheela, Velaramamoorthy, Balahaasan and Lovelin.

Pattabi, Sathish, Goutham, Onriyam Prabhu, Thendral, Stella and Monisha too play key roles in the series. In the recently launched trailer of Jallikattu, the makers not only provide a glimpse of the historic, cultural value of the sport but also show how it affects faction wars and interpersonal relationships in villages. Given the sport is equated to machismo and male pride, it complicates several equations in the story.

During the promotional activity of Pettaikaali, Vetrimaaran mentioned that he visualised the show as a prequel to his ambitious film on Jallikattu titled Vaadi Vaasal, which will star Suriya. The show was critically acclaimed, well received by audiences and widely viewed on OTT platforms. Noticing the demand for rooted, grounded stories, Jallikattu is bound to do well in its Telugu version too.

The music of Jallikattu is supervised by Santhosh Narayanan. Veteran lensman R Velraj is the cinematographer while the show is edited by R.Sudharsan. Ramu Thangaraj is the art director and Stunner Sam choreographed the action sequences. La.Rajkumar, Rajesh Kannan wrote the dialogues for the Tamil version. Prathap and K.Selvam are the sound designer and the costume designer respectively.
