The much-awaited audio launch of Superstar Rajinikanth's Jailer was held yesterday at a grand event at Nehru Stadium in Chennai. The star-studded event had the entire Jailer team in attendance, which included Rajinikanth, Jackie Shroff, Shiva Rajkumar, Mohanlal, Ramya Krishnan, Tamanaah Bhatia, Nelson Dilipkumar and Anirudh Ravichander.
Speaking on the occasion, Jackie Shroff, who is all set to be back in Tamil cinema after Thalapathy Vijay's Bigil (2019), said, "Thalaiva Rajinikanth, it has been 36 years since our last film together. He played my younger brother in Uttar Dakshin. He was there at my wedding as well."
Uttar Dakshin was directed by Prabhat Khanna, and the film was later remade in Tamil as Chella Pillai. Jackie Shroff has also worked in films like Aaranya Kaandam and Maayavan in Tamil.
He added that the main reason he chose to become part of the film is because of Rajinikanth himself. "I chose to act in Jailer because of Thalaivar. "You are my soulmate, Rajini."
The Bollywood actor was also in praise of the film's director Nelson Dilipkumar. "Nelson looked after me like a child on the set. He is like a child to me. I gave him a Lampard bike. ' You will rock, Nelson'."
In the meantime, Rajinikanth, too, stated that one of the directors who gave a fillip to his career included Nelson Dilipkumar, along with SP Muthuraman, Mahendran, Suresh Krishna, P Vasu, KS Ravikumar, Shankar, Ranjith and Karthik Subbaraj.
The event also had a live energetic performance by the film's music composer Anirudh Ravichander and a high-octane performance by Tamannaah to Kaavaala.
While the cinematography is handled by Vijay Kartik Kannan, editing is by R Nirmal. The film is bankrolled by Sun Pictures. Expectations are high from the film after Rajinikanth's Annaththe and Nelson Dilipkumar's Beast didn't set the cash registers ringing at the box office.
