When news broke that Karunada Chakravarthy Century Star Shivarajkumar would do a cameo in Superstar Rajinikanth’s film Jailer, the Kannada actor’s fans were worried if director Nelson would be able to do justice to his star status. All their fears were allayed on August 10, when the film released in theatres and had audiences across states singing praise of Shivarajkumar’s dominating screen presence in his limited role.
Since Thursday, social media has been flooded with posts and memes about how good namma Shivanna was in the few minutes of screen time that he has. Interestingly, among the three major cameos, including from Mohanlal and Jackie Shroff, it is Shivanna as Narasimha who has won over the most hearts, especially with audiences in Tamil Nadu and Kerala. The actor it seems now has a new legion of fans, which could not have come at a more opportune time.
Shivanna’s next release is the MG Srinivas directed heist thriller Ghost, which is set to get a pan-India release, with the focus on Kannada, Tamil and Telugu versions. Malayalam and Hindi were supposed to be considered depending on demand, but given the reception that the actor has got for his Jailer cameo, chances are that a Malayalam version will get done. Ghost is set to be a Dasara release, in the second half of October, although the team is yet to officially announce the date.
Shivarajkumar, who is currently shooting for his second home production Bhairathi Ranagal , which is the sequel to director Narthan’s Mufti, took to social media a little while ago to thank audiences who have appreciated his role in Jailer. The Hattrick Hero had a special word of gratitude for director Nelson and, of course, Rajinikanth, adding that it was a privilege to spend time with the Superstar.
The actor has also done a role in Dhanush’s upcoming Captain Miller. It has been reported that Shivanna plays Dhanush’s brother in the film and has a much lengthier role.
