For the first time ever, Superstar Rajinikanth and Kannada superstar Shiva Rajkumar are all set to appear together on screen, courtesy Jailer. The film marks the debut of Shiva Rajkumar in Tamil cinema and marks Rajinikanth's maiden collaboration with director Nelson Dilipkumar.

The film's production house, Sun Pictures, today, dropped a brand new picture with Rajinikanth and Shiva Rajkumar, in which the duo are seen engaged in a conversation. Taking to their social media handle, Sun Pictures captioned the picture, Superstar - Shivanna Get ready to watch them together for the first time 4 more days to go for #Jailer (sic)."

The action-packed film is gearing up to hit screens on August 10 in theatres worldwide. And that's not all. Jailer will have Mohanlal and Rajinikanth sharing screen space for the first time and will mark Bollywood actor Jackie Shroff's comeback in Tamil cinema after his last appearance in Bigil, which had Thalapathy Vijay in the lead and was helmed by Atlee.

Jailer will also see the Padayappa leading lady Ramya Krishnan collaborating with Rajinikanth after a long hiatus of two decades. Going by the film's trailer, it looks like she plays Rajinikanth's wife in the film, and Vasanth Ravi their son.

Jailer has an ensemble star cast comprising Sunil, Tamanaah, Vinayakan and VTV Ganesh to name a few. Nelson Dilipkumar is known for his films, Kolamaavu Kokil, Don and Beast. Music for the film is by Anirudh Ravichander, cinematography by Vijay Kartik Kannan, and editing by R Nirmal. Jailer is bankrolled by Kalanithi Maran's Sun Pictures.

Jailer marks Rajinikanth's 169th film. He was last seen in Siruthai Siva's Annaaththe, which failed to rake in the moolah. Likewise, Nelson Dilipkumar's Beast starring Vijay, too, didn't set the cash registers ringing and opened to negative reviews. Hence, expectations are riding high on the film.
