Summer in Bethlehem
The film, which revolves around the story of Dennis (Suresh Gopi) and Abhirami (Manju Warrier), has Mohanlal appearing towards the climax portions. The actor plays Niranjan, a murder convict awaiting a death sentence. As the ex-lover of Abhirami, he advises her to forget him and start a new life with Dennis. The sequence has Niranjan appearing as a changed man, who regrets his past actions. Summer in Bethlehem, one of the best comedy dramas, stars Jayaram, Kalabhavan Mani, and Janardhanan, too.
Koothara
Koothara, a coming-of-age drama directed by Srinath Rajendran (known for Kurup), chronicles the struggles of three friends who have faced repeated failures in various endeavors. Eventually, they cross paths with a fisherman called Usthad Salli who sells them a fishing boat. Unfortunately, they discover later that the boat is not worth the amount they paid for and that Usthad had tricked them. Mohanlal's Usthad Salli is a rugged man who appears in ragged clothes. Koothara features Tovino Thomas, Bharath, and Sunny Wayne in lead roles.
Kayamkulam Kochunni
One of the main highlights of the movie, starring Nivin Pauly in the titular role, is the introduction scene of Mohanlal. He essays the role of Ithikkara Pakki in this period drama, which revolves around the story of a popular heroic outlaw, Kayamkulam Kochunni. Mohanlal is exceptional as Pakki, who makes his entry with mesmerizing background music that reminds us of cowboy films. The film narrates the love story of a peon and an affluent young woman. Their relationship is vehemently opposed by the woman's brothers. Jayaram and Parvathy play lead roles in the evergreen film.
