Arunraja Kamaraj, who turned a filmmaker with Aishwarya Rajesh-starrer Kanaa, is making his digital debut with a web series which will be dropped on Disney+ Hotstar. Titled Label, the project has gone on floors in Chennai today. Jai and Tanya Hope have been roped in to essay lead actors in the series which has story penned by Jayachandra Hashmi.
The team has unveiled a poster and a still featuring the crew from the location. AJ Prabhakaran is bankrolling Label under the banner of Muthamizh Padaippagam; it has music by Sam CS and cinematography by B Dinesh Krishnan.
Yugabharathi, Mohan Raja, Logan and Arunraja himself will be penning lyrics for songs in it while Raja Arumugam and Vinoth Rajkumar are handling editing and art direction respectively. Azhar is in charge of dance choreography while Sakthi Saravanan is helming action episodes.
Mahendran, Harishankar Narayanan, Sriman, Ilavarasu, Suresh Chakravarthi and Charan Raj among others will be seen playing significant roles in the project. Though makers are yet to reveal the genre of Label, the series, according to Arunraja, is based on the danger behind people forming opinions on others based on the place they hail from.
Arunraja, who last directed Nenjuku Needhi in 2022 with Udhayanidhi, was a singer and a lyricist before taking a plunge to filmmaking. There was news of him helming a project starring Rajinikanth in the lead. However, Boney Kapoor, who was said to be producing the movie, quashed it as a rumour.
Having essayed some notable roles in the last few years, he was previously seen in Ka Pae Ranasingam. The song for which he last penned lyrics was the popular Kutti Story from Vijay's Master.
