The trailer from Kareena Kapoor Khan’s upcoming film Jaane Jaan is finally out. Helmed by Sujoy Ghosh, it is inspired from the novel, The Devotion of Suspect X. Here, Kareena plays hot padosi turned hot suspect. The film also stars Vijay Varma and Jaideep Ahlawat in the lead roles.

What does Kareena Kapoor Khan play?

Kareena is seen in the role of Maya D’Souza. She is Jaideep Ahlawat’s hot padosi. The actress is seen in a mysterious role. Here husband goes missing in Kalimpong. She also has a daughter. There are a few hints which point that Maya could be the potential killer of her husband. The husband’s body was found charred.

What about Jaideep?

Jaideep Ahlawat is seen in the role of a teacher named Naren. He teaches martial arts and excels at it. Naren is Maya’s neighbour and knows a thing or two about her. He, however, has a secret to reveal, which he doesn’t wish to reveal yet.

And Vijay?

Vijay Varma comes as an interesting development to the plot. He plays the cop named Karan, who is good friends with Naren. He takes Naren’s help in trying to understand if Maya is linked to the case. The big twist comes when it appears that Karan and Maya could be in a relationship.

Why Jaane Jaan as the title?

There’s a certain mystery to the song Aa Jaane Jaan. Crooned by Lata Mangeshkar, the song is sensuous and mysterious at the same time. The track from Intequam featured Helen and seems to be reprised for the upcoming Sujoy Ghosh directorial.

Is Jaane Jaan anything like Drishyam?

It is believed that Drishyam was adapted from The Devotion of Suspect X. However, Jaane Jaane does not hint at that yet. The film is helmed by Kahaani director Sujoy Ghosh and thus, expect elements of him as a filmmaker in this project.

Jaane Jaan is a Netflix original film. It will release on the OTT platform directly and will be available for streaming from September 21.
