Iwájú is a coming-of-age sci-fi animated series that explores the adventures of Tola, the young daughter of a wealthy tycoon who lives a sheltered life on an island, and her best friend Kole, a self-taught tech expert with a humble background. On her birthday, Tola is gifted something she has wanted for a long time: a pet. But it comes with a twist. Her pet is Otin, a robotic, orange and blue salamander.
The trailer showcases moments of sweet friendship between Tola and her friend Kole, despite their class differences. However, when Tola goes to the mainland of Lagos unsupervised with Kole to escape the rules and guards, she unknowingly falls into the trap of Bode, her father's enemy. Thankfully, Otin is there to save the day.
The trailer shows a unique blend of Nigerian culture and the spirit of ‘real’ Lagos, with the elements of a futuristic city with easily available hi-fi tech. Since ‘iwájú’ translates to ‘the future’ in the Yoruba language, the limited series will not only reveal the futuristic fate of Lagos but also the imminent fortune of the two best friends and a cute, robotic salamander cum bodyguard.
