Tamil actress Trisha Krishnan and Malayalam star Tovino will be teaming up for the first time in upcoming action thriller Identity, which will be directed by the makers of Forensic.
While there were rumours that the Ponniyin Selvan actress was approached for the role, Trisha confirmed that she has indeed signed the movie through her post on Instagram. "Totally pumped to associate with this squad in a high octane action entertainer," she wrote.
This will be Trisha's third Malayalam movie after Hey Jude and Ram that were directed by Shyamaprasad and Jeethu Joseph, respectively. The actress is currently working in Vijay’s Leo and was last seen in Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan 2.
Tovino, on the other hand, is fresh off the blockbuster success of 2018, which is the highest grossing Malayalam movie of all time. He recently wrapped the film Anweshippin Kandethum and is currently shooting for Lal Jr’s Nadikar Thilagam that also has Soubin Shahir in the lead.
His period action-adventure Ajayante Randam Moshanam will be his next release. The movie will have him playing a triple role for the first time in his career.
Identity, meanwhile, is also scripted by Akhil Paul and Anas Khan, who had earlier worked with Tovino in Forensic. The upcoming movie, which is set to go on floors in September, will be shot on a big budget. A Hollywood stunt director is also set to join the team of Identity.
Initially, the project was announced with Madonna Sebastian as heroine. But this seems to have changed with the makers now roping in Trisha as the female lead. The makers are yet to reveal the reason for replacing Madonna in the film, which is expected to have a pan-Indian release. Madonna will next be seen in Kunchacko Boban's Padmini, which is set to hit theatres later this month.
