After much speculation, it's now official that Suriya's upcoming film, which was until now referred to as Suriya42, has been titled Kanguva. The news was confirmed after the newspapers today carried a full-page advertisement along with the title. Now the film's production handle, Studio Green, has also officially announced the title as Kanguva. The production house dropped the video at 9.05am sharp and captioned it, "A Man with Power of Fire & a saga of a Mighty Valiant Hero.#Suriya42 Titled as #Kanguva In 10 Languages In Theatres Early 2024 (sic)."

The video shows Suriya as a mighty warrior, without revealing much about his look in the film. We also see an eagle flying atop a battlefield and a dog in the video, which spans around 1 minute and 16 seconds. Suriya is seen riding atop a horse and arriving on the battlefield. The power-packed background adds to the intriguing element of the video. The team also announced that the film will release early 2024.

Interestingly, the title has been doing the rounds since yesterday evening after the censor certificate of the title teaser began to do the rounds. Later, fans began speculating the meaning of the name on social media. Kanguva is said to be one of the most expensive projects in Suriya's career. The film is being made as a magnum opus, on a grand scale in 3D. It is billed as a pan-India project and will be released in ten languages.

The film marks the debut of Bollywood actress Disha Patani in Tamil. This is the maiden collaboration between Siva and Suriya. Music for the film is by Devi Sri Prasad. The audio rights of the film have been bagged by Sa Re Ga Ma and the digital rights have been acquired by Amazon Prime Video for a whopping sum.
