Actor Ramya (Divya Spandana) recently announced her comeback to cinema after a long gap and to make things better, she announced the launch of her production house: Apple Box Studios. The new venture, she said, comes in pursuit of fresh and enterprising content and added that AppleBox Studios was already on the threshold of producing two theatrical films. While she refused to divulge more details, she did hint at collaborating with a very talented actor-director whose most recent release charmed her immensely.
Well, turns out that Ramya was referring to none other than Raj B. Shetty and the duo is here with the first official announcement! On the special occasion of Vijayadashami, Ramya revealed that she will be joining forces with the Garuda Gamana Vrishabha Vahana actor-director for her maiden production venture under AppleBox Studios. The same announcement also carried the title of the film along with the first poster: Ramya and Raj B. Shetty's passion project has been titled Swathi Mutthina Male Haniye.
Swathi Mutthina Male Haniye is reportedly a romantic drama which will be directed by Raj Shetty who has also written the film's script. And to make things better Raj and Ramya will also star in the film as leads and fans are already looking forward to this rather special on-screen pairing. Swathi Mutthina Male Haniye is a joint production venture of AppleBox Studios and Lighter Buddha films and the film will be distributed by KRG Studios.
The title of the film refers to the song of the same name from the 1990 film Bannada Gejje, starring V. Ravichandran and Amala. The song was composed by Hamsalekha with S.P. Balasubrahmanyam and S. Janaki serving as the playback singers.
Ramya was last seen in the 2016 film Nagarahavu following which she took a sabbatical, of sorts, to focus on her political career. During her first acting stint which lasted as many as 13 years, she fared as one of the top-billed actors in Kannada (Excuse Me, Jothe Jotheyali, Just Math Mathalli, Sanju Weds Geetha, etc.) and even found success as Divya Spandana in Tamil cinema with films like Polladhavan, Vaaranam Aayiram (opposite Suriya), and others.
