So the speculations were true. Fahadh Faasil is joining the cast of Rajinikanth-starrer Thalaivar 170, helmed by TJ Gnanavel. This is the first time Fahadh will share screen space with Rajinikanth. Along with Fahadh, Manju Warrier (also from the Malayalam film industry) will be part of the cast . The film’s producers announced the news on X (formerly Twitter) today (October 3).
‘The incredibly versatile Fahadh Faasil comes onboard’
Making the announcement, Lyca Productions stated, “Welcoming the incredibly versatile talent Mr Fahadh Faasil on board for Thalaivar 170. Thalaivar 170 gains a powerful new addition with the astonishing performer Fahadh Faasil joining them.”
The cast of the movie also includes Ritika Singh, Dushara Vijayan and Rana Daggubati. There have been rumours about Amitabh Bachchan and Nani also being part of the project. But there’s no official confirmation regarding that yet.
Fahadh Faasil in Tamil films
Fahadh recently starred in the Tamil movie Maamannan, directed by Mari Selvaraj. The film was a hit in the theatres and it was also received well on digital platforms. Fahadh’s performance in the film was highly appreciated, which increased his fanbase in the Tamil industry. He also appeared in a significant role in Kamal Haasan’s Vikram, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, which was a successful commercial entertainer, also loved by audiences in Kerala. Thiagarajan Kumararaja’s Super Deluxe is another notable Tamil film that featured Fahadh in a major role.
Rajinikanth’s upcoming projects
Rajinikanth is enjoying the success of his latest film, Jailer, directed by Nelson. The movie also features acclaimed actors Shiva Rajkumar and Mohanlal. Meanwhile, the Petta actor has completed recording his lines for his daughter Aishwarya Rajinikanth’s directorial debut, Lal Salaam, in which he appears in a cameo role. As for his upcoming project, Thalaivar 170, Rajini is expected to play a retired police officer.
