Way back in 2020, filmmaker Tharun Sudhir had announced that he was working on the script of a film with Challenging Star Darshan, which would be their next collaboration after Roberrt. Tharun had categorically stated although he would not rule out a Roberrt sequel, he was not working on one just yet and was instead scripting a historical.
Darshan is known to have a soft spot for period/historical films, having already done Krantiveera Sangolli Rayanna, in which he played the title role, as well as Kurukshetra, in which he was Duryodhana from the Mahabharatha. The actor is also committed to a film about Madakari Nayaka, to be directed by SV Rajendra Singh Babu and produced by Rockline Venkatesh. Tharun’s film was reportedly about freedom fighter Sindhura Lakshmana, and was to be produced by Roberrt maker Umapathy Srinivasa Gowda.
Over the weekend, though, Darshan took to social media to speak about not celebrating his birthday in grand fashion this year, given that it’s only months since Power Star Puneeth Rajkumar passed away. Promising to make up for it next year, Darshan added that he had a couple of updates coming up on his birthday. For starters, the actor said there would be an update about his current film, Kranti, as well as one about his next with Tharun under Rockline Productions. Now the question is whether Tharun’s film is a new project altogether or if Rockline Productions is making the film on Sindhura Lakshmana, instead of Umapathy Films. Is Madakari Nayaka on hold or shelved? Many questions, the answers to which we will probably get on Wednesday. Meanwhile, the re-release of Darshan’s first hit, Majestic, which propelled him to stardom, will be on February 18, he said.
