While we have countless options in the world of streaming, some shows strike such a deep chord with audiences that, no matter how many other choices there are, we eagerly wait for the next season of that one special series. Ted Lasso is one such show. Every time there’s an update, it becomes the talk of the town. After running for three successful seasons, fans are now anxiously awaiting news about a possible Season 4. Over a year has passed since Season 3 aired, and while there’s no concrete update on the fourth season, there’s a glimmer of hope as three cast members have been approached to reprise their roles, hinting that Season 4 might be in the works.
For those unfamiliar, Jason Sudeikis-led Ted Lasso Season 3 aired in May 2023, which was 15 months ago. Fans have been eagerly waiting for news about a new season, especially as things seemed uncertain with no clear plans in place. The Hollywood strikes added even more tension to the situation. What was also concerning was the fact that the season finale felt very much like a series finale, leading many cast members to express doubts about a fourth season. But it seems like things might be about to change. Read on to find out more.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Warner Bros. has reached out to three cast members—Hannah Waddingham, Brett Goldstein, and Jeremy Swift—who play Rebecca Walton, Roy Kent, and Leslie Higgins, respectively. All three, whose contracts were under the U.K.'s acting union Equity, have been approached by the studio to reprise their Ted Lasso characters. This suggests that Warner Bros. is indeed planning something around Ted Lasso, with the highest possibility being a fourth season.
Once these actors are secured, the studio will need to negotiate new contracts for the other team members represented by SAG-AFTRA. This includes co-creators, executive producers, and stars Jason Sudeikis and Brendan Hunt, as well as Juno Temple. Warner Bros. has yet to comment or confirm whether a fourth season is officially happening.
In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, co-creator Bill Lawrence shared that the future of Ted Lasso completely depends on Jason Sudeikis. "Even without talking to each other, every actor, actress, writer, and producer on that show loved the experience,” Lawrence said. "As fans, we’d all be thrilled if it continued, but everybody would say the same thing: Whatever Jason feels like doing, we’re all on board with it."
He added, "Not only is he the star, he's the head writer, and he's also the guy whose life has to be completely overhauled and moved to a foreign country with young children. It's a big deal. So, as a fan, if someone says, 'Oh, it’s gonna happen again,' I’ll go nuts. As a partner, I’m down for whatever he wants to do."
