Is Raj B Shetty’s big reveal about Roopanthara?

Kannada filmmaker-actor Raj B Shetty went live on Instagram to talk about a new project that his team from Lighter Buddha Films has collaborating on with the makers of Ondu Motteya Kathe, Mango Pickle Entertainment. On June 27 at 4.05 pm, Raj will reveal the title and the first poster of the upcoming project. The actor-filmmaker did not reveal any further details, so, it remains unclear what his level of involvement will be.

Roopanthara to release soon

Interestingly, one of Raj’s yet-to-release acting gigs is a film called Roopanthara, an anthology directed by Mithilesh Edavalath, and produced by Mango Pickle Entertainment, in which the actor plays a local goonda in Bengaluru. Raj has written the dialogues of the film, which has been in the making since 2021. The trailer of Roopanthara was censored recently, signalling that a theatrical release of the film is not far off. Considering that very little is known about the film, tomorrow’s announcement could be a fresh start to promotions.

If the reveal is indeed going to be about Roopanthara, then it may be a while before audiences get to see Raj the filmmaker back in action. Last seen onscreen in the Malayalam film Turbo, in which he played the main antagonist Vetrivel Shanmukha opposite superstar Mammootty, Raj’s next in Kannada is the much-delayed web series Ekam, produced by Rakshit Shetty. As far as films go, he has Arjun Janya’s directorial debut 45 and the upcoming Duniya Vijay film with Jadesha K Hampi.

During interviews for the promotions of Toby and Swathi Mutthina Male Haniye, Raj had spoken about returning to direction only after the completion of two projects from his banner that he’d be writing for, but not directing or acting in. However, a couple of weeks ago, he had put out a call for artistes for the next project from his team, auditions for which were slated for June 23.
