Earlier today, Hombale Films, the banner behind biggies like KGF and Salaar, announced a new project. In a first, the production house announced a collaboration with a filmmaker, stating that it would be backing director Sudha Kongara’s next. The as-yet-untitled project will be based on a true story, they stated.
The announcement, of course, spurred widespread speculation about the star cast and the possible subject that Sudha is bringing to the screen this time around. In an earlier interview, Sudha had spoken about collaborating with Soorarai Pottru hero Suriya yet again on a big project, so a lot of the buzz surrounding the new Hombale Films’ production was about it being a Tamil film, dubbed into other languages for the pan-India market.
While the big question on everyone’s mind is whether Sudha will present a new true story, there were some who wondered if this would be the Hindi remake of Soorarai Pottru, considering that it was based on the life of Deccan Airways founder Capt Gopinath.
In the event that this is not a film with Suriya, fans were hopeful that it would be with a Kannada star, ideally Yash or Rakshit Shetty. However, Rakshit is currently in the midst of Sapta Sagara Daache Ello, after which he will begin his own directorial, Richard Anthony, which is a Hombale Films’ production.
