While the DCU now has a playground to flourish as the DCEU has ended with Aquaman And The Lost Kingdom, the focus now is on what the future holds for the various fan-favourite characters that will probably be recast. According to reports, one actor who is not going anywhere is Jason Momoa, who has now graced the big screen with the sequel to his massive 2018 standalone flick. However, there were rumours that he would no longer play Aquaman but would be recast as Lobo.

What Did DCU Co-Boss Recently Say?

Even James Gunn’s co-boss, Peter Safran, has now opened up about how Jason Momoa will always have a place in the DCU and at Warner Bros. Of course, the filmmaker and boss at DCU have not really confirmed whether they will be recasting Momoa as Lobo in their revamped version of the WB branch or not. But Safran only has good things to say about the actor.

As per Comic Book Movie, talking about Jason Momoa’s time as Aquaman, Peter Safran expressed how he has redefined Arthur Curry with his performance. Safran even said how he was Khal Drogo before this and is Aquaman now. Talking about his future in the franchise, Peter said, "I will really be here to support him [Momoa] in this journey. If it’s the end of the journey, fine. If it goes on, that’s also fine, but I think it has meant so much to him. The way [director] James [Wan] crafted this second film, it feels like a very complete story when you watch the two films together."

About what happens after this, Peter Safran added, "We’ll see what happens with him beyond it. I know that Jason will always have a home in DC and at Warner Bros. In fact, his next movie is Minecraft."

But Who Is Lobo?

Well, we have been hearing this name for a while now, but who is he? Lobo, for the initiated, is one of the most iconic antiheroes in the world of DC comics. Said to be the Last Of The Czarnian, the name Lobo means "he who devours your entrails and thoroughly enjoys them.” The character that was introduced in the '80s as a bloodthirsty villain has had his own journey. He was later established as an anti-hero with an iconic status after it was used to throw sarcasm at Punisher and Wolverine.

He is an anti-hero who cracks jokes and, well, skulls as a pastime. Lobo, an eccentric intergalactic bounty hunter and mercenary, has blurred the line between a villain and an anti-hero in DC comics. Do we need to say how well the part fits on Jason Momoa? Like tailor-made, almost? Lobo’s origin story is like that of Superman, as they are the only existing members of their respective clans. However, for Lobo, he is the reason why his clan was eradicated because he murdered them all.

Lobo’s Powers:

While using weapons to their gruesome potential is something he masters, he also has some superpowers that include durability, accelerated healing, and super strength. However, the way he uses these powers is so destructive that he is banned from heaven and hell. This also means that Lobo is immortal. His powers place him even above Superman in some cases. Even Clark Kent has a chance of dying, but Lobo doesn’t.

Lobo In DCU:

While we don’t know whether Jason Momoa will enter as Lobo or not, there are all the reasons to make the character enter the DCU. He is the perfect Deadpool equivalent and a violent character that can have his own R-rated part in the DCU. As James Gunn is not running behind the obvious with his DCU, it is, of course, making sense that he would introduce an anti-hero as gory as Lobo and also make a brutal film with him.
