Irugapatru is fast emerging as a hit at the box office. The movie released on Friday is gaining momentum in cinemas with strong word-of-mouth. Irugapatru deals with modern-day relationship issues and it is written and directed by Yuvaraj Dhayalan.
After completing its theatrical run, Irugapatru will become available for streaming on Netflix. Earlier this year, the streaming giant confirmed the news on his social media handles. "2023 is going to bring us the best kind of drama and Irugapatru is to blame Irugapatru is coming on Netflix in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada as a post theatrical release," tweeted Netflix.

Based on the trailer, Irugapatru examines the problems of modern-day relationships. It seems to follow the relationship issues in the lives of three married couples. Shri and Saniya Iyyapan play one of the couples. They are young and represent the independent thinking of today's youngsters. Unlike other couples, they get hitched after falling in love with each other. However, the romance fizzles out of their relationship soon after the wedding. The two lose intimacy, constantly fight and fall out of love, and feel trapped in marriage.

Vidharth and Abarnathi play another married couple, who are on the other end of the relationship spectrum. Their marriage seems to have been arranged by their families. And the romance was never part of their relationship. What if one of the partners begins to crave more deeper connection?
The third couple is played by Vikram Prabhu and Shraddha Srinath. They seem to have an emotionally well-balanced relationship. Their marriage seems to be too good to be true. "How come we never fight," wonders Vikram Prabhu. It seems thanks to Shraddha's profession as a marriage counsellor, she knows how to effectively resolve conflicts in her marriage without letting them spin out of control.
