After a long delay, the psycho-thriller Iraivan is all set to drop in theatres worldwide on September 28. Written and directed by Ahmed, the film stars Jayam Ravi, Nayanthara and Rahul Bose in the lead. Here's all you need to know about the film.

The bone-chilling trailer
Jayam Ravi is back as a no-nonsense cop, who shows no mercy to the bad buys. In Iraivan, he takes on 'Smiley killer' Bramma (Rahul Bose), who has killed 12 young girls in a brutal manner. He is currently under the observation of psychologists, but when he escapes the precinct, things go awry. Arjun (Jayam Ravi) has no qualms about taking the law into his own hands. Going by the trailer, it looks like the plot revolves around the hunt for Bramma.

Check out the trailer below.

Jayam Ravi and Nayanthara are back with a bang
When Jayam Ravi and Nayanthara teamed up for Mohan Raja's Thani Oruvan (2015), the film turned out to be a smashing hit at the box office. Iraivan will mark their second collaboration. And that's not all. The duo will be working together in Thani Oruvan 2, which will also be helmed by Mohan Raja, who made the original.

Iraivan runtime
The film has been censored with the 'A' certificate, due to the raw, grim and brutal scenes. Iraivan's runtime is 2 hours, 33 minutes and 41 seconds.

Cast and crew
The film has an ensemble star cast including Ashish Vidyarthi, Naren, Charlie, Vinoth Kishan, Vijayalakshmi, Azhagam Perumal, Bhagavathi Perumal and others. Music is by Yuvan Shankar Raja.

Hari K Vedanth is handling the cinematography, while Manikanda Balaji is handling the editing. Iraivan is bankrolled by Passion Studio and will be released in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada.

A September 2023 Release
The Ahmed-directorial was initially slated to hit screens in August, but the team postponed its release to September 28. We hear that the team is in talks with Zee5 for the film's digital rights and it is heard that the two parties are likely to sign the deal for a record price in the star's career.
