Prime Video had recently announced its upcoming content slate for the Indian region, which majorly included original series and films. Among them is Inspector Rishi, a supernatural crime drama series, helmed by filmmaker Nandhini JS. The series will consist of ten episodes with each running for an average of 40 minutes. Prime Video’s upcoming original series Inspector Rishi will premiere on March 29. All the ten episodes of the series will be available on the platform. The series is created by filmmaker Nandhini JS, who has previously helmed Nila Nila Odi Va for Viu.

The trailer of Inspector Rishi was unveiled by the makers a few days ago. Set in the forest area of rural Tamil Nadu, Inspector Rishi is a supernatural crime drama starring Naveen Chandra in the titular role. Inspector Rishi's trailer shows how a series of mysterious deaths occur in the forest region, with Rishi at the helm of the case. He, along with his two sub-inspectors, are supposed to solve the case, while a forest spirit is speculated to be at play.
Plot
What happens when a sceptic police officer is put in charge to solve a case suspecting the foul play of a forest spirit? What happens when he is aided by a forest officer who is a devote spiritual person? Inspector Rishi will be answering all these questions in its new series which will oscillate between a crime drama and supernatural presence.

Cast
Inspector Rishi is directed by Nandhini JS who has made Thiru Thiru Thuru Thuru. Besides Naveen Chandra, the series also stars Sunainaa, Kanna Ravi, Srikrishna Dayal, Malini Jeevarathnam, and Kumaravel, among others. Inspector Rishi is backed by Shukdev Lahiri. Sunainaa will be playing the role of a forest officer, with Kanna Ravi and Malini Jeevaratnam essaying sub-inspectors. The series marks Nandhini’s second collaboration with Sunainaa after Nila Nila Odi Vaa.

In an earlier conversation with OTTplay, Nandhini said that the series will oscillate between a sense of horror and scepticism. She also clarified that Inspector Rishi will be devoid of gore and violence but will have an element of psychological horror, tickling the belief system. Naveen Chandra, who is not a believer of supernatural presence, said that his character will be mysterious and layered. The actor said that his role will be the one who is calm and composed to observe the surroundings and is sceptic to believe that a spirit is involved.
