The first four episodes of Debaloy Bhattacharya’s Indubala Bhaater Hotel – one of the most ambitious shows in Hoichoi – were dropped on March 8. Marked as the OTT debut of Subhasree Ganguly, the series is based on the novel by Kallol Lahiri. The series is dotted with soulful music and now, one of the veteran singers in the industry Jayati Chakraborty alleged that a song by her was dropped without informing the singer.
On her Facebook, Jayati posted on Tuesday. “I knew I had a song in the series. I had my hopes high while watching it and then realised that it was omitted,” she said. A disappointed singer further added that while she understood that a song could be omitted for not meeting expectations, she told many of her friends to listen to the song in the series. She clearly stated that she was hurt. “One might not like a singer’s rendition of a song but who will take the responsibility to hurt an artiste?” she wrote. “I have no song in Indubala Bhaater Hotel,” she added.
A series of musicians commented on her post. Lopamudra Mitra wrote, “Don’t be sad. Many such things will happen. The world is not ours anymore. Sing for yourself.”
Rupankar Bagchi commented, “You were and will be the best.”
Partag Baran Paul wrote, “This uncivilised behaviour was started in the Mumbai industry and not it is coming here as well.”
Earlier, the music director Amit Chatterjee took to his social media to allege that he was getting threatening calls. “In this industry, the seniors don’t want the juniors to grow,” he wrote.
