On Tuesday evening, singer Jayati Chakraborty took to social media to allege that her song for the Hoichoi web series Indubala Bhaater Hotel has been omitted without letting her know. A series of musicians and her fans reacted to her post pointing out how an artiste’s respect has been revalued.
Meanwhile, the director told us that her song has not been omitted but it will be shown in the second part – the last four episodes of the series. After the release of the first four episodes of Hoichoi on March 7, the culminating four episodes will be dropped on March 24. While talking to OTTplay exclusively, Debaloy said, “I can assure you that Jayadi’s song is there in the series and it will be shown in the upcoming episodes. All I did was change the sequence and could not let her know about that. She has beautifully sung the song and it is out of the question that it will be omitted. I am a fan of Jayatidi and there is a creative reason for asking her to sing the song.” Besides, Jayati's song, Ami Eka Chini, will be released independently as a music video.
Meanwhile, the music director Amit Chatterjee took to his Facebook to claim that he was not the decision maker of which songs to be used and which are not.
On her Facebook, Jayati posted on Tuesday. “I knew I had a song in the series. I had my hopes high while watching it and then realised that it was omitted,” she said. A disappointed singer further added that while she understood that a song could be omitted for not meeting expectations, she told many of her friends to listen to the song in the series. She clearly stated that she was hurt. “One might not like a singer’s rendition of a song but who will take the responsibility to hurt an artiste?” she wrote. “I have no song in Indubala Bhaater Hotel,” she added.
