Sangeeta Bijlani on why she never married Salman Khan: 'I am not afraid anymore...'

After meeting on the sets of a TV commercial during their early years in Bollywood, Salman Khan and Sangeeta Bijlani dated for almost ten years. After a long relationship, the couple decided to tie the knot. They had set the date and prepared the invitations, but Salman abruptly decided he didn't want to proceed. Sangeeta rarely spoke of her romance with him, even after all this time had passed.

Most recently, she was a featured guest on an episode of Indian Idol 16. During the event, someone asked the actor to identify one aspect of her life that she wished she could change. Sangeeta responded by saying, "Jo the na, mere ex," in imitation of Salman Khan. She felt a great deal of restriction due to constant constraints. You can't wear short dresses. The neck can't seem that deep. The dress cannot be shorter than the specified length. He would have strictly prohibited her from wearing the knee-length blue dress she wore on the show. Initially, he permitted Sangeeta to wear the dress, but over time, he stopped doing so. As a result, she experienced a sense of timidity.

Sangeeta confessed that she is no longer timid, and people can now refer to her as a "gundi." Fear no longer grips her. She kept to herself at that time. That aspect of her life is something she would like to alter. However, since she made those changes, her identity has evolved.

After Sangeeta said this, one of the contestants, Manasi Ghosh, immediately followed up with another question for her. She enquired whether Salman and Sangeeta had printed their wedding cards. Sangeeta, in disbelief, responded, "That's correct." Don't strike lightning on her, as her name is Bijli. The confession is over with her.

After that, Vishal Dadlani turned to Sangeeta and inquisitively asked, "What's the story?" Aditya Narayan replied abruptly that they should discuss this at Bhavana. Sangeeta continued by saying that indeed, she would be delighted to tell him the story at Bhavana." Among the Parel apartment complex in Mumbai is Bhavana, where Vishal and Sangeeta live.

While appearing on Koffee With Karan, Salman had previously discussed his engagement to Sangeeta. However, he unexpectedly decided to call off the wedding. During the same exchange, Karan playfully enquired if Sangeeta had discovered him in the act. While denying the occurrence, Salman laughed it off.
