Indian 3, the third installment of Kamal Haasan’s franchise, was rumoured to get a direct OTT release. However, director Shankar refuted the reports in a recent interaction with media.

Indian, the 1996-released vigilante action film which features Kamal Haasan in the lead role, remains one of the finest works of director Shankar. After a long wait, the actor-director duo made a comeback with the second part, Indian 2, in 2024. After the second installment failed miserably at the box office, it was reported that the third part, which has been titled Indian 3, will opt for a direct OTT release. However, director Shankar has now put the rumours to rest.
Director Shankar, who recently kickstarted the promotions of his upcoming Telugu film Game Changer, opened up about the massive failure of Indian 2. The senior director stated that the extremely negative reviews received by the vigilante action film were totally unexpected. The filmmaker, who admitted that it was quite disheartening, further added that he had worked better on both its upcoming third part Indian 3, and the Ram Charan starrer, because of the same.
During his recent interaction with the media, director Shankar also reacted to the rumours, which suggested that Indian 3 might skip a theatrical release. Earlier, it was speculated that the third installment of the Kamal Haasan franchise will not get a theatrical release, owing to the colossal failure of the second part. Shankar, who rubbished the reports, confirmed that Indian 3 will definitely get a grand theatrical release in 2025. More updates on the same are expected to be out very soon.
