Siddharth, a former assistant of Mani Shankar, took to acting with director Shankar’s coming-of-age musical Boys two decades ago. The actor has gone onto make a mark in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Hindi films over the years. While he was promoting his next release Takkar in Hyderabad today, Siddharth also discussed his excitement about reuniting with Shankar for his magnum opus Indian 2.
“When the same filmmaker who introduced me to cinema and believed in my talent two decades ago calls me for a project again, I was obviously left speechless; it feels like I’ve won an award. It is one of the biggest films in the country today. If I start talking about the film, I’ll go on about it for at least two more months. More than me, the film is about two other stalwarts - Kamal Haasan and Shankar,” the actor said.
Shankar sir has clearly instructed me not to discuss anything about the film yesterday, Siddharth told a journalist. “It was always my dream to work with Kamal Haasan. I can assure you that the film will be huge, 10-times bigger than what you can imagine it to be. Karthik G Krish is one of the favourite assistants of Shankar sir and he knows the scale and the canvas of the project. This is an integral part of my dream lineup of films in the coming months.”
Indian 2, headlined by Kamal Haasan, also stars Kajal Aggarwal, Siddharth, Rakul Preet Singh, Vennela Kishore, Vivek, Venu Nedumudi, Kalidas Jayaram, Jayaprakash and is jointly produced by Lyca Productions and Red Giant Studios. Anirudh Ravichander scores the music for the project which has been in the making for many years now and is expected to release in the later half of 2023. After Indian 2, Shankar’s Telugu debut, Gamechanger will hit screens in 2024.
